Lynnhaven Mall – Virginia Beach, VA

In December of 2013, Hoar Construction presented Appleton Sign Company with the opportunity to compete in the bid process for a mall sign rebrand. Lynnhaven Mall is a General Growth Properties mall located in Virginia Beach, VA. In April of 2014, we were awarded the project and our design team began work on the project.

Using design intent documents from Huie Design, the ASC design team worked in tandem with Huie and Hoar to ensure fabrication techniques, finished colors and graphic element proportions were exactly what the project designers had envisioned.

Phase 1 of the project began after all design documents, color and material samples were approved. It consisted of mall entrance channel letters, food court signage and various interior wayfinding including specialty restroom signs and ADA compliant signs.

In July of 2014 our customer showed us how pleased they were to work with us, that they awarded Appleton Sign with more specialty fabrication elements. These included custom cove light reflectors and a 60’ x 60’ suspended acrylic ceiling fixture for the center court of the mall. Working closely with our clients and Cannon Design, we were able to achieve the aesthetic our customer was searching for, with a creative and cost effective solution for the hanging acrylic panels.

In March of 2015 we received the award for Phase II of the project. This included more specialty restroom signs, another suspended acrylic fixture in the skylight known as “the spine”, more interior wayfinding and ADA signs as well as decorative panels for their planter areas.
